Abstract:
Ceropegia sandersonii flowers lure and trap carnivorous flies for pollination. The flowers emit volatiles also released by honeybees signaling distress. Pollinating flies use such volatiles to locate bees under attack as a food source. The flowers are a chemical mimic of a food source of adult carnivorous flies.
